Because Armour Wood® products are pressure treated, any cutting, cross-cutting, bored holes or notching that exposes the wood must be liberally swabbed with a brush-on or spray wood preservative that contains zinc naphthenate. Suitable products include Wolman Wood Preservative Clear, Cuprinol Clear, Dussek 8% ZnN, Protecto-Zinc and Green’s Clear Wood Preservative. Once you’ve applied the preservative, simply prime exposed cuts and miter joints with an exterior wood primer before final painting.
Please note that applying a preservative to exposed wood is required in order maintain your limited lifetime warranty. In addition, any machine alteration of the shape or size of Armour Wood® (other than sawing the boards to length or any notching required for fitting or joining) will void your warranty.
